So a few weeks ago i ventured down to Sydney to photograph the Aussie Paravan Crew!

Who are they you ask?

Well the Aussie Paravan Crew (http://ozparavancrew.tumblr.com/) are a group of epic Paramore fans who are packing up their things and following Paramore on their next tour of the USA...

Ok so this is another jump in my portfolio it has a bit more of an editorial feel to it then some of my other images and i must say i was really pleased with how they turned out.

These were shot at Freshwater beach with the lovely Opal Onley around a strange and kind of gloomy sunset. I love the feel of these images and how everything came together; from the hair and Make-up to the gloomy beach feel!

Let there be Rock...

Here is another shoot in the series that i shot for my portfolio. The theme is centralised around a "Rock Chick" featuring the lovely Renee Sass and the super awesome 'Button-Top' she made! (I'm not sure if thats a technical term but the top she made is covered in buttons???)

What's happening Folks?

This was a shoot with the lovely Macey Onley... We went for a bit of an end of the world kind of theme you know one of the few survivors of the apocalype kind of get up... Practical but stylish clothing and of course a gun or two.... : )

I was hoping for an awesome glowing sun just before it set but it ended up being overcast which gave the shoot another feel all together....

I'm Back! : )

Ok so i realise i haven't posted anything on the blog for ages and ages... but i've been super busy shooting my final portfolio for college with some amazing people.

Over the next few weeks i hope to overload you with some of the exciting stuff i've been doing... i'm super pleased with how everything is coming together and i cant wait for an awesome year as i attempt to break into the business!!!

This first shoot features the awesome Chris Davidson whom i have known for quite some time. We braved the unthinkable one saturday morning, getting up before the sun and heading to the coast to catch that sweet morning sun!

Whilst i may have gotten a little carried away with the flare i just love the colour and the feel of this shoot....

This next little shoot features the lovely Leah Newton... Its another one of my portfolio shoots. I love the etherial nature of the images the light has such an awesome feel!

When we arrived at the location it was a shock to see that the council had recently mowed the long grass that gives these photos there context... fortunately we were lucky enough to find a small patch in a far corner of the field that we could use... 10 points to the council worker who missed that patch!

This is just the first taste at what i have been working on lately... Stay tuned for more in the coming days!

Cause she's a Gangster???

So my sister is a gangster... Or at least she thinks she is!!!!

I realise i haven't posted anything in a while.... (I know the anticipation of the next amazing visual journey must have been killing you!!!).... but i have been insanely busy shooting my major portfolio for college.

This little shoot is a part of my folio development and was a bit of a lighting test....(and just a bit of fun on a sunday afternoon).

Corporate War!

Who knew rich people in suits could be so aggressive!

I mean its in the papers all the time, Large corporations running over the little guys in some kind of money hungry rampage.

Now before you tune out and think "Ah man this dudes going all political." Just scroll down and look at the photos... I had an assignment on war to shoot and figured i would play with the idea of war and have some fun with it. The images are all in square format as the final brief was presented on two cubes (Just to make things a little more interesting.)

Big thanks to everyone who helped out. It was a sweet day and the results were quite amusing.

A Modern Day Gypsy...

These are some images from a sweet little shoot that came about out of the blue a few days ago. I received a txt from the lovely Lauren one afternoon and the next day we were out wondering the rundown streets of downtown newcastle taking photo's. The shoot took on an interesting theme with all the props at our disposal, evolving into a story of a modern gypsy girl.

New Branding!

Welcome to the new look Lewis Onley Photography Site. I've just finished getting my branding and logo together and here it is!

I was hoping to create something funky, young and modern because lets face it i'm certainly not some fifty year old hippie with a camera photographing Aunty Sue's latest batch of daisies. I love to photograph people across all areas of life from Portraits and Music, to Promotional work and Modelling portfolios. So i took said camera and said people and through the wonders of photoshop they became one...

...I mean you don't have to write me an essay with an analysis of the underlying social, cultural and economical themes but a quick "Thats fully sick!" or "I suppose i could live with that..." would be sweet... (Haha)

Big Exo Day 2010

This Year i had the privilege to be one of the photographers covering Big Exo Day at Sydney Show ground. The event has become the largest drug and alcohol free youth event in Australia, hosting over 12,000 youths for a day of music and festivities. The highlights were definitely Evermore as well as the FMX, Skate and Wake-boarding demo's and if your a teenage girl i would imagine Stan Walker would have been on your list. It was a massive day of shooting and was also a sweet opportunity to road test my new 70-200mm (Sooo Pretty...). Here's a preview of some of the days festivities.

Bliss

Last week i got to shoot with some models from Bliss modelling agency for college. It was a pretty miserable day but the heavy overcast provided a sweet diffuse lighting. I love that by adding a bit of overfill you are able to darken the background and make your subject really stand out. It was an awesome day and the models were really good to work with.

A day with friends...

There is nothing quite like a day spend hanging out with friends. I took these photo's last weekend and just love the casual, relaxed feel they have. I enjoy the crisp colours of the streets combined with the soft skin tones created through the use of available lighting. All round a good weekend.

Fleeting Moments

Once again i find myself amidst a bunch of crazy little children at yet another gathering. The interesting thing about photographing kids is the pace at which they operate. Within just a split second their mood can change, they can get distracted by pretty much anything, or simply lose that unusual expression that would have looked so good in a photo. The thing is you just cant capture every moment but its always good to be prepared and have your camera in hand so that you can grab a shot when it counts most. Here are some new shots for you to enjoy.

Retro Filter

These are some images i took at a wedding last year i applied a Retro filter to them to give this effect. I love the greenish tinge this creates whilst leaving a natural skin tone. The textures in the grooms suit creates such rich detail whist the soft white of the brides dress creates quite a contrast within the images.

Shooting Children

It seems that my older cousins and relatives are at that age where children are the in thing. This being the case i am building up quite a selection of photographs of my smaller relatives which are always interesting and different. Photographing children is always hard as they don't usually understand why they have to stand there and "look happy" or what the heck this camera thing is anyway. I have found its always good just to get down to their level. This just shows that your not there to boss then round and tell them what to do but to take interest in what they are doing and what they will discover or imagine up next.
